Theodore J. DeLaet, Ph.D.

Theodore J. DeLaet, Ph.D.

Dr. DeLaet is a licensed psychologist with over 20 years of experience in private practice, psychiatric hospital, veterans' home, community agency, nursing home, and educational settings. He taught and served as a school counselor for 11 years before earning his doctorate degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. He is a part-time faculty member in the Counseling Department at the University of Nebraska-Omaha and has previously taught on a part-time basis at the University of Nebraska.

 

Dr. DeLaet has a general psychological practice working with a variety of age ranges from children through the elderly. He provides counseling/psychotherapy, psychological assessments, forensic risk assessments, neuropsychological screenings, parenting evaluations, and custody evaluations. He is also certified to provide Department of Transportation Substance Abuse Evaluations.

 

He has recently become certified in mediation through the Nebraska Mediation Center Association and Nebraska Office of Dispute Resolution. Dr. DeLaet has specialized training in forensic sex offender and violence risk assessments for adolescents and adults. He also has training in working with developmentally disabled mentally handicapped populations.

 

Dr. DeLaet is a member of the Nebraska Psychological Association (Past President), the American Psychological Association, the American Psychology-Law Society, and the Association of Family Conciliation Courts.

Aveva Hahn Shukert, Ph.D.

Aveva Hahn Shukert, Ph.D.

Dr. Shukert is a licensed clinical psychologist who has extensive experience in conducting assessments, and developing diagnostic judgments and treatment plans. She offers state-of-the-art screenings for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder(ADHD), dementia, personality and other cognitive and memory problems, for individuals across the lifespan. She also provides psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and families, reflecting research evidence, as well as cultural differences in treatment planning.

 

She earned her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. Her career experience includes skill in coordinating services with physicians, lawyers, educators, caseworkers, hospital and nursing home personnel, and family members. Her specialty is cognitive behavior therapy for the treatment of mood, anxiety, and behavioral disorders. Therapy is available for individual, couples, and families.

 

Dr. Shukert is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Nebraska Psychological Association, and the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. She is also a Professional Associate at the Nebraska Health System Hospitals and consults at the Rose Blumkin Home for the Aged.

Michael Luebbert, M.Div, Ph.D

Michael Luebbert, M.Div, Ph.D

Dr. Michael Luebbert is a licensed psychologist with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Texas A & M University in College Station, TX and Master of Divinity degree from Weston School of Theology in Cambridge, MA. Dr. Luebbert completed a two-year Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the St. Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute. In addition to working part-time at West Center Psychologists and Psychotherapists, Dr. Luebbert serves full-time as a clinical psychologist with the Nebraska Department of Corrections. Dr. Luebbert is also on the faculty at Creighton University where he co-teaches a course on Sexuality and Spirituality for the Christian Spirituality Masters Program. He provides consultation to churches and religious organizations, including the provision of psychological assessments for ministerial candidates.

 

Areas of special interest and expertise include cognitive behavioral therapy, parenting, couple/family therapy, depression, anxiety, the relationship between sexuality and spirituality, anger management, relationship issues, grief, forgiveness, psychological assessment of clergy candidates, sexual abuse, trauma, existential issues, the interface between faith and spiritual development, and growth-oriented psychotherapy. Dr. Luebbert's doctoral research focused on personality variables predicting forgiveness capacity/success.

Jerry Authier, Ph.D.

Jerry Authier, Ph.D.

Jerry Authier, Ph.D. received his bachelor and master degrees in Psychology from Eastern Washington University, and his doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from University of Portland, Portland, Oregon. He has over 30 years of clinical experience "teaching psychological self-help" to individuals, couples, and/or families, having trouble dealing with stress, anxiety, an/or depression. He has written a multitude of articles emphasizing psychoeducation, including co-authoring a book entitled Microcounseling: Innovations in Interviewing, Counseling, Psychotherapy and Psychoeducation. Additionally, he has extensive training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and in the diagnosis and management of children and adolescents with behavior problems, ADHD, or having trouble with the transition from childhood to adolescence, or adolescence to young adulthood.
